Meet our NEW Program Director! Carly West Gelles

Carly brings a wealth of experience in education and community engagement. She served five years as an Administrative Assistant at Tidewater Community College, and Carly has taught English at both I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth and Granby High School in Norfolk. Her leadership skills and deep passion for education make her a tremendous asset to our team.

In her role as Program Director, Carly will take the lead in curriculum development, daily programming, community partner relations, volunteer management, internship opportunities, special events, and administration of the Founder’s Grit Goal Challenge. She is eager to build relationships with our community partners and will play a key role in cultivating a culture of excellence, joy and caring.

Carly is deeply committed to fostering collaboration among schools, families, their children, and all stakeholders with the shared goal of elevating the educational experience and total formation of the young people we serve in Norfolk.

Empowering Moments

In honor of Women’s History Month, our students gathered for a powerful day of inspiration, leadership, and learning during our Women’s Empowerment Forum.

This event helped our young women see what’s possible when they lead with purpose and passion. Our future Success Stories received inspiration and guidance from dynamic speakers, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and confidence-building activities.

Thanks to our guest speakers, volunteers, and everyone who made the day meaningful!
