We’ve compiled some resources, including those focused on teaching youth life skills, which you may find helpful. After School Program

The afterschool program takes place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 6400 Newport Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. We provide free transportation.

Your youth will not need to provide their own food. Next Step To Success will provide youth with an afterschool snack and a catered dinner Monday through Thursday.

Next Step To Success serves youth within the city of Norfolk, Virginia.

This program is currently free to participants.

Next Step To Success is an innovative blueprint to teach young individuals the power of good character in an effort to increase their likelihood of success. We do this by fostering a growth mindset through courses that guide and enhance problem-solving skills, effective communication, public speaking skills, social and life skills, financial literacy, emotion regulation, strategies for motivation and much more.

There is no deadline. Program admission is rolling throughout the year.

Next Step To Success is a nonprofit organization based in Norfolk, Virginia. Though we are founded on and rooted in Catholic values, we do not expect or require you or your child to be Catholic or a part of any particular religious denomination.

If your youth gets sick during program hours, a parent/guardian/emergency contact will be contacted to pick up your youth for the day. If they have a fever with temperature registering 100.4 or higher, they will be sent home to ensure safety and Covid precautions. If it is an emergent situation that requires staff calling emergency medical responders, the parent/legal guardian will be contacted immediately following the contact to emergency medical services with details on where your youth is being transported and cared for.

The Next Step To Success afterschool program operates Monday-Friday, from 2:30-6:30 p.m. We follow the Norfolk Public Schools calendar. If school is closed or if there is no school for youth, Next Step To Success is closed, including during times of inclement weather. If school closes early, Next Step To Success staff will inform parents if the program will operate on that given day.

Summer Camp

The summer program takes place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 6400 Newport Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. We provide free transportation.

Your youth will not need to provide their own food. Next Step To Success will provide youth with a light breakfast, snack, and lunch Monday through Friday.

This program is currently free to participants.
